Midweek English Premier League Picks

A week before the Champions League quarterfinals takes the stage; we have the English Premier League stealing the spotlight with a full fixture between Tuesday and Wednesday. The game capturing the eyes of the fans will have Manchester City visiting Chelsea, but there is a lot of action across the board.

These are the Midweek English Premier League Picks:

Everton at Manchester United

  • When: Tuesday, April 4, 2017
  • Where: Old Trafford, Manchester
  • Game Time: 2:45 PM ET
  • EPL Odds: Everton +550 vs Manchester United -180, Draw +300

It hasn’t been the best season for Jose Mourinho and Manchester United, but they still can aim for a Champions League post for next season. United is in fifth place with 53 points after 28 games. They owe the calendar two games. The idea is to catch Manchester City who is in fourth place with 58 points in 29 games and Liverpool who is third with 59 points in 30 outings

Manchester United hasn’t lost since October 23rd, when Chelsea hammered them with a 4-0 result, and that’s why the pay per head services made them the favorite for the upcoming week. The Red Devils have drawn two of their last three games and five of the last eight. Their lack of consistency is what has them outside the Champions League right now.

Everton is coming off a 3-1 loss to Liverpool during the weekend. The loss ended a two-game winning streak they had going after beating Hull City and West Brom with a combined 7-0.

The last two meeting between Everton and Manchester United ended in a draw. This one shouldn’t be any different.

EPL Picks: Take the draw or Everton +1 in the handicap.

Tottenham at Swansea City

  • When: Wednesday, April 5, 2017
  • Where: Liberty Stadium
  • Game Time: 2:45 PM ET
  • EPL Odds: Tottenham -135 vs Swansea City +400, Draw +280

Quietly Tottenham has become one of the best teams in the EPL. They are in second place with a seven-point mountain to climb to catch Chelsea, but they are the only team built to give the Blues any scare until the end of the season.

Tottenham has won four straight games in the EPL, making them a team to beat according to the book making services. The Spurs beat Burnley with a 0-2 score during the weekend. Their four-game winning streak is the best current for in the Premier League.

On the other side, there is Swansea City, a team fighting to stay in the top flight. They have recorded 28 points in 30 games so far, but they are one ahead of Hull City in the relegation battle. Swansea has three straight games without winning in the EPL. Last weekend they had a scoreless draw against Middlesbrough, who is also in the fight to stay in the Premier League.

Tottenham beat Swansea 5-0 in the first meeting this season. The Spurs have won nine of the last ten games in the series against Swans. Since Swansea arrived at the EPL in 2011, they haven’t won a single game against Tottenham.

EPL Picks: Tottenham.

West Ham at Arsenal

  • When: Wednesday, April 5, 2017
  • Where: Emirates Stadium
  • Game Time: 2:45 PM ET
  • EPL Odds: West Ham +680 vs Arsenal -250, Draw +410

Arsenal is currently out of the European spots. They are two points behind Manchester United and like the Red Devils; they own the calendar a couple of games. The Gunners are in a process where maybe losing is the best thing to their side. The fans are running out of patience for coach Arsene Wegner, and the team doesn’t play well enough to be excited.

Arsenal has three straight games without a win after losing to Liverpool and West Brom while drawing against Manchester City during the weekend. For the Gunners is time to wake up or die. They are in bad shape right now.

West Ham is also in bad form. They have lost four in a row, and they have six straight games without a victory. They also lost 5-1 in the first meeting against Arsenal back in September. It’s been a bad season for the Hammers, who played well last year.

EPL Picks: Arsenal.

Manchester City at Chelsea

  • When: Wednesday, April 5, 2017
  • Where: Stamford Bridge
  • Game Time: 3:00 PM ET
  • EPL Odds: Manchester City +205 vs Chelsea FC +130, Draw +245

If Manchester City wants to make a late run at the English Premier League title, they need a win at Stamford Bridge. The sports bookie software is not expecting an upset for Pep Guardiola’s men, but with their backs against the wall they should come out swinging.

Man City has three straight games without a win. Currently, they are 11 points behind Chelsea in the standings. Anything but a road victory should end their title chances. The pay per head bookies made City the favorites to win EPL early in the season. It all has come crashing down over the last three months.

Chelsea will play the odds. They will play with Manchester City’s pressure and take a step forward in the pursuit of a new title. The Blues were upset by Crystal Palace last week with a 1-2 home result. Chelsea hasn’t lost twice in a row this season, and they are not about to start this week.

EPL Picks: Chelsea.

AFC Bournemouth at Liverpool FC

  • When: Wednesday, April 5, 2017
  • Where: Anfield
  • Game Time: 3:00 PM ET
  • EPL Odds: AFC Bournemouth +750 at Liverpool FC -275, Draw +425

Liverpool is ten points behind Chelsea in the standings. Their title hopes are not easy to materialize. They need a lot of help from all fronts to pull a comeback. But the pay per head bookie services know Liverpool is playing at a high level right now.

The Reds have won three of their last four games; they drew 1-1 against Manchester City in the middle of their winning streak. They have the best offense in the EPL, scoring 64 goals in 30 games. The next best offense is Chelsea with 60 goals.

AFC Bournemouth drew against Southampton with a scoreless result during the weekend. The draw cut a two-game winning streak they had going after beating West Ham and Swansea in consecutive weeks.

Consistency has been an issue for these two teams. Liverpool has been a solid bet when playing at home, winning 11 games, drawing three and recording just one loss.

EPL Picks: Liverpool.
